Akrotiri is a village in the South of Santorini. It is known for the Ancient Akrotiri settlement that was developed during the Bronze Age. Now, Akroriti is a traditional small settlement that mostly overlooks the Caldera. Less crowded than most places in Santorini and an ideal destination if you are looking for tranquillity and privacy during your visit in Santorini.

How to get to Akrotiri: Akrotiri is easily accessible by car or motorbike, or by a taxi or privately arranged tranfer. There are regular buses from Fira which is the bigger city in Santorini.

Akrotiri Archaological Site (Akrotiri of Thera): Akrotiri is on of the most ancient settlements in Santorini, but as well as in Greece. This settelement was developed during the Bronze Age and was one of the most important centers of the Minoan civilization that spreaded throught the Aegean Sea. Ancient Akrotiri was covered by volcanic ash during the erruption in the 17th century BC.
